Fresh Start - to reconvene in the evening

Miss the recent Fresh Start meetings? Couldn't make the dates? Fret no more, a evening session has been arranged for all you folk for whom daytime isn't always an option.

The Fresh Start team has arranged an evening session to discuss current thinking on future arts structures for Dumfries and Galloway. This will take place at The Stove, in Dumfries, at 6.30pm on Wednesday 24, April.

It will be a chance to meet Peter Stark OBE, and Kathleen O'Neill of Fresh Starts for the Arts, for a presentation and conversation on a wide range of issues. Among the most important is how to build on the work done by the arts hubs, and get the best for our creative sector in a rapidly changing environment.

Peter has over forty years’ experience of designing and managing structures, programmes and facilities for the arts at national, regional and local levels in the UK and internationally. He is working with Fresh Start as a specialist adviser.

Since the start of the year Kathleen has been working with artists and organisations across the region to gather a wide range of views about what the future could and should hold.

Four daytime sessions have already been held in New Galloway, Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Moffat – but we realise that not everyone can take time out from work and other commitments.

For further information about the presentation and discussion events email Matthew Shelley atinfo@matthewshelley.net or call 07786 704299.

  1. Hi Matthew,
I am local Sculptor, I work in ceramic, bronze and resin.

I have recently been in correspondance with The head Gardener at Threave Gardens nr Castle Douglas (scottish National Trust) and they have a dedicated sculpture garden there were work can be exhibited and be for sale too. They are very keen to have local sculptors show their work there.

It is a beautiful place and a great place to put out door work where it will be seen but thousands of garden lovers, a good opportunity to have work shown in a public garden setting.
