Civil War unleashed in Dumfries

We publicised the opening of this show a while back - but it is so good (see images below) that we felt we had to remind folk to check it out. This is a properly good contemporary art show on the High Street in Dumfries -it is open 11am-5pm Wednesday to Saturday until 8th June

 A National Galleries of Scotland Communities Outreach project in partnership with Dumfries and

Galloway Council Museums, Youth Justice and Countryside Ranger Services. 

This collaborative project investigates the shocking events of the ‘Killing Times’ of the seventeenth century when communities in the South-west of Scotland took to the hills to hold religious services, defying the King’s authority. Led by the National Galleries of Scotland outreach team, artist Sarah Forrest and filmmaker Daniel Warren, it offered young people from Dumfriesshire the chance to explore the evocative graves and monuments of the Covenanting period and question what relevance this era has to their lives today.

 The exhibition features a film by Sarah Forrest and Daniel Warren, and sculptures and photographs created by participants, which document the project.

 The exhibition is open from Wednesday 29 May to Saturday 1 June, and 

Wednesday 4 June – Saturday 8 June, 11am – 5pm. Closed Sunday – Tuesday.
