'Drawing a Voice' is  a collaborative exhibition involving Pamela Grace, Catriona Taylor and Jean Atkin at Mill on the Fleet, which opens this Saturday......there's a launch do at 3.30pm on Sat 28 September, everyone welcome.

This unusual exhibition displays the collaboration of two different visual artists with a poet, over several different projects.
A piece of visual art, or a poem, requires any viewer, or reader, to interpret it through the use of their own imagination, memories and experiences. The process is two-way, and is in itself creative.
When a poet and an artist work together, they too are seeking new ways to look, and finding new layers in the other’s practice that in turn nurture their own. All these collaborations have created their own absorbing journeys.

Jean Atkin works as a poet, writer and educator, and lives in Shropshire. She is a past winner of the Torbay Prize, the Ravenglass Poetry Prize, the Ways With Words Prize at Dartington Hall and others. Her first collection Not Lost Since Last Time, was published by Oversteps Books in spring 2013.   She has twice been Poet in Residence at Dumfries & Galloway Science Festival and was Poet in Residence in August 2013 at Logan Botanic Garden, as part of Scottish Poetry Library’s Walking with Poets project.  www.jeanatkin.com

Henkeepers Almanac - Jean Atkin

Pamela Grace is an artist and printmaker living and working in Galloway.
Her work is based on drawing and observing nature in gardens, allotments and the countryside.
Pamela’s exhibitions during 2013 have included the McGill Duncan Gallery, the Look Gallery, Helmsley, Spring Fling 2013 and Bianco Nero, Stokesley.  www.pamelagrace.co.uk

Catriona Taylor has had solo exhibitions with Amber Arts, Edinburgh, StAnza Poetry Festival and The Park Gallery, Falkirk. She has been part of a number of group exhibitions including the RSA, SSA and VAS at the RSA Galleries, Edinburgh. She was Artist in Residence at the National Library of Scotland. In 2010 she was awarded a Cabn/Creative Scotland Visual Artist Award. In 2012 she was awarded the Alchemy Film Festival’s first commission and is currently the Leverhulme artist in residence with the Scottish Centre of Diaspora Studies at Edinburgh University.  www.catrionataylor.co.uk
