Art Battle at Eden Festival

Into the Commonty inbox this week has arrived a last minute opportunity to get involved at Eden Festival. If you need yourself a good excuse to get along to Eden in a couple of weeks time - now's your chance!

The rough plan so far and what Art Battle involves is.....Manchester artists versus Dumfries & Galloway ones. Hoping for say 10 of each and they'd be split up into 2 or 3 30 minute rounds, of between 6-10 artists, all painting in a circle, canvases facing out, the audience, having circulated around the hive of activity, then vote on their favourite, by dropping a token into the artist's box.

The festival is from 13th-16th June, as you're probably aware. The Art Battle will commence on Sunday day time. The loose plan at the moment is to get around 10 Manc artists and 10 from Dumfries & Galloway and have 2 or 3 x half an hour rounds, (possibly followed by a final round). So in a similar vain to the original Art Battle concept (that was started in Manchester), the artists will be required to paint for 1 x half an hour round (& maybe 1 more if they get in the final). Eden is already a very creative lead festival as you may be aware, with D&G being known for its Artist community and with this in mind the Directors are very keen to make the Art Battle a huge success, but not only that but for the Art battle to grow each year, with ideas of inviting artists to compete from other UK cities, in the future. I'm also trying to arrange for the participating artists to have a designated area to sell a small selection of their work on the Sunday (at least). For taking part you will receive a free festival ticket worth over £100 along with the great platform to get your work seen & not forgetting having an amazing weekend.

Here are some photos of an Art Battle, in Manchester and I've attached a picture for the blog.
