Art Scams


Seems we are as vulnerable to a bit of flattery as anyone, a few spring flingers have been caught up in this (none cheated though) see this link

  1. I always wonder how these folk actually make money out of these...the idea seems to be that their cheque bounces after you have shipped your work off to wherever...then what? They sell it on?? If they are that good at selling art maybe we should suggest that Scottish Enterprise fund them to come over and open a gallery.

I have been told thy send a cheque for more than the value and ask for the difference to be returned, In some cases the cheque apparently clears but it is in a chain of some sort and eventually bounces some months later in nigeria or some distance place. Mostly common sense though to see them a mile off IMHO
