Call for projects - Rural D+G LEADER

LEADER is a European funding programme that has been very supportive of arts projects that work with rural communities in D+G.

Silvana McLean and Mary Smith worked with the landscape and communities around Glentrool to produce a collection of etchings and poems that are now placed in local libraries and community centres
Dalziel and Scullion made the film 'Speaking the Land' about D+G landscape - this project and Silvana and Mary's were funded by LEADER + SNH and developed and managed by Dr Jan Hogarth for Gingko/DGArts
Rural D+G LEADER are now asking for project ideas related to coastal communities in the region:

RuralDumfries & Galloway LEADER have been given the opportunity to possibly handle a new funding initiative directed towards the regeneration of our coastal and fishing communities.  With over 200 miles of coastline across Dumfries & Galloway we are sure there must be communities out there who would be interested in this funding stream and who have project ideas they would like to see come to life. The initiative would seek to support a wide variety of projects, not just
the fishing industry.

Please contact us if you would like to note your interest in this new initiative. Also, if you would be interested in becoming a member of a new coastal community action group please let us know.

If you are an artist with an idea your best bet will be to talk to someone from the coastal area that you are interested in and get them to contact Nicola (or work through Jan Hogarth at DGArts)

'Surfacemen' by Oceanallover with artist Matt Baker and playwright Debbie Kent - Cairnsmore of Fleet 2008 - funded by LEADER with SNH and DGArts
