  1. So do we have any reports on what happened at the Kirkcudbright meeting?

  2. Several members of the public attended The impression was that had they not done so the whole issue would have been bulldozed through. Fortunately special dispensation was given for one person to speak on behalf of US THE PEOPLE "THEY" REPRESENT
The permitted comments made were able to highlight the total inadequacy of the business case for this by mixing in costs from elsewhere with no clear description. The concept that closing the Tolbooth would somehow enhance the visitor experience by concentrating all the art in one area shows a lack of understanding why visitors come here.
The non publicised consultation set for next week was highlighted as far too short a notice and constructive discussion agreed that this date should be deferred to enable an informed decision to be made at the June meeting.
So, hopefully some progress has been achieved in retaining this iconic tourist art centre.

  3. Many thanks Colin for the update. Is there any one particular councillor who is driving the closure or is it a Council officer wheeze?

  6. We understand that the idea is for exhibitions to be held in the Town Hall (along with the exhibit about the artistic heritage of Kbt) - all of this will now go to 'public consultation'.....maybe contact your Councillor for detail on how this will work?
We will post more on the blog as we receive it...any Councillors or Officers out there?
