Andy Priestman sent in an amazing wee film of round ice pans forming in the River Minnoch - in answer to a comment that the film might be a hoax he has today sent in some more photos of the formations taken as the temperature lowered:
"re paper plates and ice pans, interestingly the shapes became more ragged as the temperature dropped.1st.pic (in the original article) is at minus 6c. , the other two (below) in the minus teens...."
Andy also added:

On second thoughts these are not paper plates but low quality condoms made in China thrown away in disgust.
