  1. The Solway remains the most important and unspoilt estuary for wildlife in Europe – and the ‘debatable lands’ that the motorway crosses have a long and turbulent history which the proposed blot will desecrate. What is it with Charles Jenks – does he not know about light pollution, energy saving, climate change, small is beautiful – where is he coming from! Maybe he should read Cormac McCarthy and Margaret Atwood. ‘Art’ of any kind this will not be – just another wasteful intrusion. Could the proposal guidelines not have insisted on something more appropriate than another Mr Big type structure. Couldn’t we have a small sign saying that although the competition was fun for some, any monies involved have been spent on improving water supplies in Africa – anything really, just something more appropriate.

  2. Artwork's editorial takes a fatalistic stance on 'The Star of Caledonia'.

  4. The Artworld speaks out about Gretna. 5 leading figures from Glasgow School of Art have written a letter to the Herald http://tinyurl.com/3zy9m9n - it will be interesting to see if there is a response for the pro camp.
