The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, a key event for the US market of collectors and public alike, has
invited craftscotland to take 25 makers to its annual show on November 10 – 13, 2011. From jewellery to
textiles, including glass, furniture, silversmithing, leather and mixed media, the work being presented to US
buyers is reflecting Scotland's landscape and materials, mixing its indigenous skills and craftsmanship with
digital technologies, and offering daring responses to design and practice.
The invitation comes as a recognition of the vibrant artist community of makers which has developed in
Scotland; with non Scottish makers – including American glass artist Jeff Zimmer, relocating here to develop
their careers. The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show is the ultimate journey for this group of makers
with established international links and recent exhibitions in cutting- edge design destinations like Milan, New
York, Tokyo, Berlin and Stockholm.

Andrew Dixon, Chief Executive of Creative Scotland, said: ‘Showcasing Scotland’s creativity abroad is an
essential part of Creative Scotland’s role and the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show is the perfect
platform to present this wonderful collection of work that has its roots here, but that will have global appeal
and resonance.’
Emma Walker, CEO of craftscotland, said “We are delighted to have been invited to participate in such a
prominent show within the American craft calendar. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the work of 25 of
Scotland’s most talented makers, whilst launching the craftscotland brand in the USA.”
