Next D&G Arts Sector Bash

Dear all - the letter below was sent out today to everyone who attended the Dalbeattie Arts Consultation event last month. For those unfamiliar with the name, Richard Grieveson is the person appointed by D+G Council as their high heid yin for the Arts following their long re-structuring process. Richard and his team are committed o the principle that the gathering next week should be an open-invite to everyone with an interest in the Arts in D&G and has asked The Commonty to circulate the invitation on the blog - if you want to attend please RSVP as per the letter below:

Dear colleague,

It was very clear from the level of attendance and participation at our seminar in Dalbeattie on 28 October that we have a vibrant and highly committed arts sector within Dumfries and Galloway. I am extremely keen to keep up the momentum and to follow through on my commitment that the Council will now plan for the future of the arts in our region by working in partnership with the arts sector in a joined up approach aimed at achieving the best possible benefits for all.

To this end I would like to invite you to the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre, Dumfries at 4pm on Wednesday 23 November, when I will be very pleased to share with you some thoughts and proposals that colleagues at Creative Scotland and I have developed since the seminar for your consideration and comment. Hearing your views and opinions will be essential as we move forward in a spirit of true partnership.

If you would like to attend I would be very grateful if you could email arts@dumgal.gov.uk to let us know you are coming.

I look forward to seeing you next week

Richard

PS (from The Commonty)....when next you see your Councillor it might be worth asking them why, when 3 of the 5 images at the top of the Cooncil website are of things made by the creative community in the past (Cairnholy, Cooncil HQ and King and Queen), less than 0.25 of 1% of the DGC budget is spent on creativity today ?
