In autumn 2012, Scottish Ballet will be visiting Dumfries and Galloway to deliver four full days of dance workshops, talks, events and taster performances in a project designed to bring Scottish Ballet activities to community participants of all ages and abilities.
The final programme of events for Dumfries and Galloway will be created following a
community information evening which will be held on 1 March at 7pm in Kirkcudbright
Academy.
public to attend to hear more about Find Your Feet, and to meet local groups who would like to engage with us and generate ideas for activities.
The project can cover a range of activities and events linked to Scottish Ballet’s productions and focus on creative dance, ballet technique, sport and dance, music, costume and design. We hope you can join us at Kirkcudbright Academy on 1 March.

ReplyDeleteOver four days in November – this is fixed – 16,17,18,19 – Scottish Ballet will facilitate or support in some way up to thirty events. Events could be something like… (and is for the whole community)
A ballet cafe – where participants take part in class ending with social cuppa and cake!
Stretching class - with rugby, football, mountain bikers!?
A talk from leading practitioners/education officers from Scottish Ballet
Ballet costume , for budding designers or parents of children who practice ballet
Music that has inspired ballet
These are only suggestions – have your say about what you would like to take place over the weekend. There are 50 funded places for local dance teachers from across Scotland to spend two days with Scottish Ballet, viewing the dancers at work, having workshops and training opportunities as well as performances by third year students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Modern Ballet course of a specially commissioned piece of dance. There will also be a live webcast event, reinforcing the connection with all seven communities at the same time and providing further access to the creative work continuing at base.
