Shindig with the Scruffy Buzzards

Shindig with the Scruffy Buzzards

A great night of entertainment is lined up for Friday 27 April at Dundrennan Village Hall.  Newly fledged local band, the Scruffy Buzzards, will perform original songs that fuse acoustic, folk and rock genres.  Band members - Richie Hamilton, Kim Ayres, John Traynor and Bruce McKenzie – skilfully blend vocals with guitar, bouzouki and percussion.  Your foot will soon be tapping!

As well as the main act, there will be an open mic session, so whether you’re a wannabe rock star, soul diva or just like to rattle the kitchen spoons this is your chance to have a go.  For those who can’t listen to music for long without an overwhelming urge to take to the floor, the night will round off with some great dance tracks.
Richie says: "Scruffy Buzzards are delighted to return to Dundrennan Village Hall after the fantastic reception we received on our last visit.  We have new songs to let you hear and look forward to helping showcase local talent during the open mic session.  It's sure to be an unmissable event."

The event follows on the success of a similar do organised by Isobel Henkelmann earlier in the year.  This spurred a few folk to get together to think about arranging live music events in and around Kirkcudbright more regularly.  The aim is for informal dos with music and dancing – otherwise known as a ‘shindig’ – hence the chosen name of the co-ordinating group.

Tickets for the Dundrennan event are on sale now from Thompsons in Kirkcudbright at £6.  Be quick – numbers are limited!  For more info, comments or suggestions for future shindigs contact Pam Taylor on 07789197484, Val Rodger on 01557 330510 or Isobel Henkelmann on Facebook.  Check out the Scruffy Buzzards on Facebook and Youtube.
