reSIde : Designer Makers Residency & Exchange Programme (Textiles)
Deadline for Applications - Thursday 17th May

reSIde offers two designer makers from Scotland and two from Gujarat, India, working in the area of textiles, an opportunity to participate in a programme of  residency and exchange. This is a chance to extend personal creative  boundaries through travel, engagement with another culture rich in textile traditions, exchange and discourse with peer practitioners and communities within the host country, research and fieldwork. Technical facilities and workspace will be offered by the two host academic institutions – Heriot Watt University, School of Textiles and Design (HWU), Galashiels in the Scottish
Borders (www.tex.hw.ac.uk <http://www.tex.hw.ac.uk> ) and National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, Gujarat (www.nid.edu <http://www.nid.edu>

The initiative is being funded through Creative Scotland's ‘Creative Futures’programme which is designed to promote the professional development, vision, connectivity and ambitions of Scotland’s creative practitioners and organisations. It is the largest co-ordinated residency programme in Europe, and is open to single discipline, interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral and
international working. Support for reSIde is also being given by Scottish Borders Council, through the Borders Textile Towerhouse (www.heartofhawick.co.uk/drumlanrig <http://www.heartofhawick.co.uk/drumlanrig> ) and Arts Development.
