Praise for Jubilee Events

The following is from the Galloway Gazette - street parties didn't actually seem much in evidence in Dumfries...we'd love to post any readers pictures of Jubilee events in their part of the region - send 'em in folks

Local politicians have said Dumfries and Galloway’s “strong sense of community really shone through” after a long weekend of events across the region to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee.
Dumfries and Galloway MP Russell Brown said: “There has been a real sense of people coming together to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee. There have been street parties and events the length and breadth of the region to mark the occasion.
“Several generations of families have come out together to take part, with some remembering the Queen’s coronation 60 years ago. Our region has a strong sense of community and that has really shone through over the past few days.”

And Dumfriesshire MSP Elaine Murray said: “Even though the weather sometimes let us down, it didn’t dampen spirits over the long weekend. I enjoyed the thanksgiving service in St Michael’s Church in Dumfries on Sunday, and it was good to see so many people there.
“I would like to thank everyone who helped put on the many events across Dumfries and Galloway because their hard work really did pay off and have been a real tribute to the Queen.”

meanwhile in the Grauniad....

what was your experience/perception/opinion ??
