“Cultivating Culture” at A’ the Airts

This Friday, A’ the Airts, Upper Nithsdale’s community arts centre will be hosting a special evening with Galloway-based artist Pamela Grace to launch her new exhibition, “Gardens and Allotments”. Pamela will be talking about her work and there will be contributions from local singer Dave Anderson and the Sanquhar Poetry Group around the theme of plants and gardens.  Sybille Trimble of the Kelloholm Allotment Project will also give a talk about their progress and plans.

Pamela started her career as a designer, training at the Scottish College of Textiles in Galashiels. Her work is based on drawing - realised in pen and ink wash, etchings and solar-plate etchings. It reveals hidden micro-landscapes, glimpses of corners of gardens, allotments, and forgotten greenhouses. Sketches and larger colour drawings are often made on location and then developed in her studio, emboldening elements and using other techniques and processes to explore their potential.

The launch event starts at 7.00 on Friday 6th July at A’ the Airts, 8 – 12 High Street Sanquhar, and all are welcome. Tickets are only £3.00 and refreshments are included in the ticket price. The exhibition runs from 6th – 31st July – a  must for art lovers and gardeners alike!
