Shakespeare From Scratch

from David Sumner

August 18 from 10am to 4 pm at the Swallow Theatre Shakespeare from Scratch 'The Taming of the Shrew'

 - no, not that kind of shrew
Baptista has two daughters: the younger, Bianca – good and beautiful, the elder, Katherina – a shrew. Bianca has several suitors, but her father forbids them to approach her until Katherina is married. Petruchio tricks her unto marrying him and takes her home, where whatever she wants or does is cunningly corrected by him until she gives in and falls in love with him. Bianca marries one of her court but Katherina rebukes her for poor conduct to her husband – a complete reversal of their roles.David Sumner and fellow thesps invite you to join him  reading and acting scenes from this entertaining and maybe not very PC comedy. Feminists of both gender welcome. No previous experience necessary, although you might like to read the play first.  If you'd like to come but don't have a copy, please get in touch, and we will send you one.
This event is free and no tickets are required. Coffee and tea will be available, but please bring a packed lunch.
