Wigtownshire Arts Hub announces its very first Creative Showcase hosted by the Whtihorn Trust

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On 11th November there will be an event for creative people, those interested in the arts and those involved in tourism and wanting to know more about activity in the area.
The Whithorn Story Visitor Centre will be open between 12pm and 5pm free of charge.  This will be the opportunity to show and talk about what you do, share ideas and network and perform something.
We will have a film area featuring films made in the area, for instance “When the Song Dies” (fresh from the Raindance Festival) and “The Folk Who Live on the Hill” (film by UrbanCroft about the people of Dick’s Hill).  There will be two exhibition spaces for artists and craftspeople to show an example of their work or their portfolio.  There will be a space where we will have storytellers, poets, writers, musicians and singers performing plus there will be an open session space for singers and musicians to join together.
From 5-7pm meals will be available and then there will be a concert by Jenn Butterworth and Laura Beth Salter.  A new(ish!) duo with Jenn Butterworth on guitar and vocals and Laura-Beth Salter on mandolin and vocals playing all sorts of songs from all over the place, and a few tunes too!  The girls got together following successful appearances at Celtic Connections and on BBC TV.
Winnie Cooper of the Wigtownshire Arts Hub said “ We wanted to show what a vibrant and creative area we live in.  During the day we will be able to add people to our shareable virtual map and to our database, that way we can let them know about any opportunities”.
