The Arts Funding debate continues

Here's another article sent in to us at the commonty to share - thickening the 'scandal of arts funding' debate. Cue another article which pits the arts against everyone else... The 'Robin Hood in reverse' argument is a little one sided, and the article perhaps neatly frames a lot of narrow mindedness. However, the debate rages on - the article 'Dame Liz Forgan’s 'leaving do’ highlights the scandal of arts funding' in the Telegraph can be found here.
On matters of fairness - here are two recently funded projects, somewhat discredited in the article:

Zap Art
An arts organisation based in Brighton - delivering large-scale outdoor events, 'Empowering artists to push the boundaries of artistic forms; breaking the boundaries of the way art is perceived and experienced by individuals. We create cultural exchanges with big impact, commissioning crowd-pulling, avant-garde street theatre, which bring alive unusual spaces.'
Their focus is on regeneration and local community involvement. See more at their website here
(See below an image of recent production The Port, The Beast and the Traveller)
Circus Space
'One of Europe’s leading providers of circus education. Based in a magnificent Victorian power station adjacent to Hoxton Square, we involve thousands of people in the creation and performance of circus arts every year. Over half of the annual income needed to run Circus Space comes from grants and donations.'

As ever there are two sides to every story - and comments and feedback are always encouraged.
