Carmen - one off performance @ Easterbrook Hall

Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival are inviting all those who have never been to
an opera to come and see a very special performance on the opening night of the
Festival at Easterbrook Hall.

Opera lovers and those who have never experienced live opera are in for a treat, as
Opera a la Carte present Carmen as a special intimate night of staged opera, performed in the
round.

Peter Renwick, Development Officer says

“The audience will be literally sitting all around the stage; it will make for a totally
different atmosphere, and you will feel like you are inside the action. We are very
excited to be able to stage such an amazing tale in this way. Opera a la Carte have
wowed audiences at previous festivals so we are excited to welcome them back.
This is only the second time in our 34 year history we have been able to stage a
full opera, which has been made possible due to a generous donation by a kind
benefactor who we are very grateful to. It has made the event much more affordable,
as in the larger cities, tickets are generally upwards of £50. We hope as many
people as possible take up this opportunity.”

Carmen is a smouldering tale of a gypsy seductress who sets light to Don Jose’s
passion. A story of jealousy and obsession, the widely acclaimed score and dramatic
staging will make this a night to remember.

This one off performance will take place at 8pm on the 24th of May.
