Victorian Photography at Annan Museum

Curious about traditional photography techniques? Alex Boyd will be giving a Victorian photography demonstration at Annan Museum, tomorrow from 11 til 1, and 2 til 4. During the day Alex will demonstrate some of the techniques used in early photography by creating a number of portraits. Visitors are welcome to drop in, see Alex at work and ask questions.

Alex Boyd is widely regarded as one of the rising stars of contemporary Scottish photography,  perhaps best known for his series Sonnets – a series of large format landscapes featuring a lone figure in some of Scotland’s most distinctive locations.

Currently working with antique photographic processes such as wet-plate collodion and calotype, In March 2012 he appeared in a new BBC series and book on the history of Victorian photography, and his work has appeared in several books and magazines. He is currently the Royal Scottish Academy Artist in Residence at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye.
