Seldom Seen - Mapping Barrow in Furness

For all those who love a map, Art Gene (independant research facility led by artists Stuart Bastik and Maddi Nicholson working collaboratively with both other artists and associate architects) - based down in Barrow-in-Furness, are currently working on a series of local maps named the Seldom Series. The maps detail 'diverse hidden assets, points of interest, stories, and walking and cycling routes that explore the social, natural and built environment' of local areas.

“It’s part of a whole suite of projects we are working on that are expanding around Morecambe Bay. They all begin with maps that capture information about the social, natural and built environment and that we then feed into our design process. By capturing all this information, we can help to design futures. So the project is about informing future developments and building sustainable local economies.”
