WRAP - Performance at Gracefield

On July 12th WRAP will open in gallery 2 at Gracefield with a performance by Denise Zygadlo in collaboration with Florencia Garcia Chafuen and Tara Hodgson accompanied by a live string quartet. The music for WRAP has been written by Rudi Zygadlo and the quartet includes local musicians Robert Thurlow and Alex McQuiston with Gongbo Jiang and Wen Wang from the Glasgow based Aurea Quartet.

Video footage of this performance continues for the duration of the exhibition, projected onto 5 silk chiffon hangings. Denise has collaborated with filmmaker John Wallace, to create an installation with her textile work, interacting with and echoing the printed images on the hangings. These images reflect her interest in the relationship between body and cloth.
A cloth ‘book of folds’, new wall-based works on canvas and large charcoal drawings on the same theme, form the rest of the exhibition.

This is an ambitious venture and Gracefield Arts Centre hopes it will provide the audience with a memorable experience.

WRAP opens on July 12th and continues till August 9th. Tickets for the performance  £4 : contact 01387 262084 or at the door, space permitting.

    1. Thanks Carole, it was a great opening and very well received. All of us who took part were delighted with the response and the tickets were a sell-out. Perhaps you can catch the exhibition, it continues till 9th August. I will be in the gallery on Saturday August 2nd for a drop-in session 2-4pm to talk about my work.
      Best wishes
      Denise
