The Govan Raid

Tomorrow is the first public event in my role as artist commissioned to work with the Govan Riverside community in response to the opening of the new Riverside Museum on the 'other' side of the Clyde.

The new Riverside museum in Glasgow is the latest attempt to bring new life to the banks of the Clyde - the strategy seems to be one of inserting something 'extraordinary' and hoping that this will have a positive effect on the immediate area around it.

The big question in this case is can this positive effect extend across the River to Govan?

Tomorrow we will be asking that question with the public action of a coordinated Raid across the Clyde....an action staged as an art event and developed and enacted by more than 100 local people. If you happen to be in Glasgow tomorrow and fancy coming along (to either side of the river) you’d be very warmly welcomed:

Congregate – Govan Cross (opposite Govan Subway) at 11.40am
River Crossing – 12-12.30
Activity around the Riverside Museum 12.30 - 2pm
