Traditional Music Festival
at the Swallow Theatre
August 3, 4 and 5

Join us for a lively informal weekend of traditional music, songs and stories in the 
peaceful surroundings of the Swallow Theatre.

Friday August 3

7.30pm - Concert in the theatre

Arthur Johnstone and the Stars Band

Glasgow based veteran of the Scots music scene, Arthur Johnstone is a fine strong singer, with traditional music from the Stars band, comprising Charlie SoaneBrian Miller (both previous Swallow visitors) and Gavin Livingston, who have also been known to burst into song!!

Saturday August 4

2pm onwards - informal sessions and fiddle workshop around the theatre and grounds…….light refreshments will be available.

7.30pm - Concert in the theatre

Gardiner, Anderson and Byrne

Scott Gardiner of Forfar is a champion bothy ballad singer, whilst excellent Stonehaven fiddler Carol Anderson will be accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Steve Byrne of Arbroath and the Scots super group ‘Malinky’.

These concerts are a wonderful opportunity to see and hear some of Scotland’s finest traditional performers on a rare visit to Scotland’s deep south!
Another showcase for the best of Scottish traditional music and a fitting conclusion to the series of ‘Quern’ concerts.

Sunday August 5

1pm onwards - further informal sessions and song collecting workshop (Phyllis Martin - Galloway songs) throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

Tickets for the theatre concerts are £8.00 and pre-booking is essential
All other activities free
