The course

After a brief talk about the course the first session will begin with everyone working as a group on a large sheet of watercolour paper exploring the particular character of water based medium on hot-pressed paper using a variety of methods - pouring, blowing, mark making, resistance techniques such as salt, alcohol, wax etc.  You will see the magic of accident.You will then begin working individually on 140lb hot-pressed paper.
After lunch there will be a brief opportunity to take in the inspirational local environment.The second session will begin by looking at how the drying process has affected the work and then you will continue developing your piece further.
There will be ongoing help throughout the afternoon and at the end of the day everyone will look at the work produced over a cup of tea and home-baking.
On the second day everyone will be working on an individual piece of work on 300lb hot-pressed paper with continued support and regular stops. The course will end with a short crit of the work produced and a cup of tea.

Times and food

The course is for small groups of any ability. Each day starts at 9.30am with coffee (very good) a variety of teas and scones.
Lunch will be at 1.00pm and is a light buffet of home made soup, sandwiches and fruit (vegetarian options).Tea coffee and refreshments will be available throughout the day. The day will finish around 5.00pm (at 5.00pm on the Sunday there will be an option to go for a very popular Durisdeer church tea in the upstairs room in the church. 2 day course fee: £100.00 (£50.00 non-returnable deposit)
