Scotland`s newest , and most southerly, Feis (Gaelic music and culture
gathering) will be happening in Wigtown on Saturday October 20th 2012
The Feis movement has been going for over 25 years now and is one of the
Highlands big success stories as a model for imparting cultural traditions in an
easy, non competitive way with fun and games along the way.
Though there is a Gaelic slant to the music, dance and drama, the teaching
will be in English and is open to all. Bring an instrument if coming to the the
harp (clarsach), whistle, fiddle and accordion classes. The tutors for these
will be myself, Ruth Morris, Gavin Marwick and Angus Lyon. Singing, drama and
step dance – just bring yourselves!
I hope that Feis an Iar-Dheas – Feis South West – will grow into the
successful model that Feis Rois has become , some of whose youngsters recently
toured the area as part of their annual Ceilidh Trail tour.
