Region's Creative Places miss the big prize

Last November we announced that Gatehouse of Fleet and Glenkens had reached the shortlist for the Creative Scotland Creative Places award scheme for 2013. This years winners were announced at a ceremony in St Andrews (one of last years 'Creative Places') - unfortunately our plucky duo missed out this time and the awards went to:
Pathhead (Midlothian) - less than 2500 inhabitants.....£50,000 award
Huntley (Aberdeenshire) - less than 10,000 inhabitants......£100,000 award
Kilmarnock - less than 100,000 inhabitants.......£150,000

Congrats in particular to Killie - who beat off stiff competition from Orkney and East Lothian

Killie brings it
In a sad coda to all this the venue for awards ceremony in St Andrews, The Byre Theatre announced yesterday that it is to close as the organisation is facing financial liquidation.......sad news indeed and a tragic end to the town's year as a 'Creative Place'.
