Joan McAlpine urges local artists to get involved in cross-party culture group

South of Scotland MSP Joan McAlpine is encouraging local artists to get involved in the newly formed Cross Party Group on Culture in the Scottish Parliament.
Ms McAlpine, along with Independent MSP Jean Urquhart, established the Cross Party Group as a means for artists from across Scotland to engage with and influence the political process.

The first meeting of the group will take place in early September.
Commenting, the SNP MSP said:
“The South of Scotland is overflowing with talented artists, musicians and organisations, and it is important that their voice is heard on a national platform.
“The Cross Party Group will be a fantasticopportunity to enable artists and cultural organisations from the south-west, and all over Scotland, to discuss cross-cutting issues with policy makers and to engage parliamentarians with their work.”
She added:
“In my time as an MSP I have met with dozens of innovative cultural organisations all over the south-west and I want to encourage as many as possible to join the group.”
