Free film-making courses at UWS, Dumfries Crichton Campus


Three amazing opportunities for the cinematically inclined from University of West of Scotland


1. Half day course – 8 May 2014



Filmmakers working with Artists



Half-day CPD for filmmakers collaborating with artists, to develop understandings around collaboration, relationship development and trust.  With a screening of Breathing Earth (Thomas Reidelsheimer, 2012), plus an illustrated talk by an artist on working with a filmmaker.  Open to anyone interested in learning about filmmaking or seeking to develop their filmmaking skills, with 14 places available.

2. Evening Event: 18 May 2014



Documentary filmmakers



An evening guest speaker event from director Emma Davie (I am Breathing, Soliloquy) and cinematographer George Geddes (Not Another Happy Ending, The Island Bus, Come Closer) on camera technique, narrative and editing for documentaries.  Open to all.





3. Five day course on film-making, 19-23 May 2014



This will be a five day course where participants will receive sessions on sound, image, editing and production management.  The final outcome will be the creative of a three-minute documentary around the theme ‘Portrait of an Artist’, to be shown during Spring Fling 2014.  12 places are available to anyone in the region interested in learning or developing their documentary filming skills.
