Exhibition Opportunity at Upfront Gallery, Cumbria

From Elaine Parkinson at Upfront Gallery

The Upfront Open Exhibition for 2015 would like to welcome entries from artists within Cumbria and beyond Cumbria. After 13 years of restricting the entry application we feel that the time has come to make some changes. The purpose of the show has always been to promote the wealth and cross section of artistic talent by showing an eclectic mix of work in various media and styles, from both professional and non-professional artists. As we now use the new Upfront Arts building for the exhibition, as well as the original gallery, we are able to develop the exhibition to include submissions from a wider geographical cross section.

The exhibition is totally self-funded. The entry fees create the budget to stage and advertise the exhibition, to hold a preview evening and to award cash prizes. There will be a First Prize of £1,000 plus other cash prize categories to be decided by the judges, according to the number of entries and the cross section of work submitted.

Entry for visitors to the exhibition will continue to be free.
The exhibition is always popular and well attended, attracting visitors from both inside and outside the county. The standard of entries is high and no two exhibitions are ever the same.

All work submitted must be available for sale and have been produced during 2013 & 2014. The selling price must be set to include the Gallery commission, which is 35% of the selling price for this particular exhibition.

Entry forms and images must be received no later than Midnight Sunday 28th December. Artists will be notified via email by Sunday 4th January if their work has been selected for the exhibition. We will only contact successful applicants and we would ask you to confirm the safe receipt of this email. Due to the number of entries and time scale, we do not notify unsuccessful applicants.

The exhibition will open to the public on Friday 16th January – 15th March. During the exhibition visitors to the Gallery will be invited to vote for their favourite piece of work. The artist who wins “The People’s Choice” will receive a one week stay in the Upfront holiday accommodation.
