Spring Fling Evolution

From Spring Fling

You will hopefully have heard about Spring Fling's development project which we are calling the ‘Evolution Project’. If not then you should know that we are currently working through an intensive development process which will aid us in making an outstanding year round, region-wide visual art and craft development organisation for Dumfries & Galloway which listens to artists and makers and can support and create opportunities for artists and makers at all stages in their careers.

This is a very exciting chapter in the 13 year history of Spring Fling. The event was established by the local authority arts officers in 2003 in partnership with practising artists, and has remained artist led. Spring Fling is a special event to many which has grown sustainably yet substantially over the last thirteen years. Over the past four years we have been nurturing a year round programme of youth engagement, residencies, digital projects and festival co-production.
Through this project we aim to build on the work done so far to create a world class visual art and craft development organisation which works with local, national and international partners in creating quality opportunities which encourage excellence and experimentation through listening to its members and responding to their needs, hopes, dreams and ambitions.
Along with our development team, led by Steve Brown, Spring Fling is now pleased to announce to you our dedicated website to the developments of the Evolution of Spring Fling - http://www.spring-fling.co.uk/evolution/

With this in mind we would like to invite you to have your say. We are in the midst of organising one-to-one sessions with our evolution team, which you can book here Also on the website is a chance for you to submit your ideas to the team if you can't make any of the meetings, or you prefer this method of communication. We urge you to have your say as the project will be lead by the needs and ambitions of the artists and makers.

Whether you are a based in Dumfries and Galloway or elsewhere, a professional artist or maker, an aspiring artist, or an interested person or organisation who would like to help shape this new organisation, we welcome your ideas on:
1. Ideas for future projects that could support your ambition for your creative practice and business;
2. Potential partnerships and collaborations (with individuals and/or organisations);
3. General ideas that could make this an outstanding new visual art and craft development organisation
Please do get back in touch with any questions you may have,

Warm wishes,

Leah
