Support the Poet

I am writing to ask each of you to support Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in its bid to win the Art Fund Prize – the UK’s biggest arts prize. We are honoured to have made it to the final shortlist of 4 museums – the award will be announced on the evening of 15 June.

You can show your support for the museum by voting in the final round of public polling – online at http://www.artfundprize.org.uk/2011/vote/index.php

There are many reasons to support the museum – not only is it an independently-minded, fantastic, fresh and genuinely accessible museum that presents the best of Burns’s legacy, but also it is the only Scottish Museum in the list (for that matter the only museum located North of Watford gap); it is the only literary museum; it has grown from a real community effort; it takes risks; it promotes the Scots language in a way no other museum has ever attempted; it has a truly internationalist outlook and it stands proudly for the principles of Love and Liberty that guided our National Bard.
