Great news from the latest round of national arts funding....this particularly in the climate of 'change' around Creative Scotland - as 4 local projects, that have grown up through grassroots partnerships between practitioners and places, have either been given funding or reached the final round of an award process:
The Lost Supper project is a performance art project being run by Mark Zygadlo and Oceanallover (the team behind the Tide Machine) - the project will be developed through a number of stages over 2012/13 - but the very first sneak preview will be presented as part of the Big Burns Supper festival over 27/28th January in Dumfries.
The artist-led project The Stove have been successful in getting Creative Scotland to put some money behind their events programme for 2012. The 2012 programme is part of the longer-term project to create a building base for artists from all disciplines to be part of the way Dumfries evolves in the future. The Stove promises to be an important rallying point for practitioners in the region to develop projects that bring together creativity, people and place.
The Stove's first event of 2012 will be 'First Foot' - part of the Big Burns Supper festival |
Creetown and Wigtown have both been shortlisted in the Creative Places Awards (population less than 2500 category) which puts them in the running for £50,000 to fund events next year as part of Year of Creative Scotland....fingers crossed

All very hopeful progress for the region after the knock we took around the closure of dgArts and very interesting in the context of the new directions in arts funding being promoted by Creative Scotland
