The proposed UNESCO Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere
Reserve is an international accolade for a defined area where people are
striving to explore new approaches to sustainable development. At the heart of SW Scotland’s Biosphere
is a designated Dark Sky Park within Galloway Forest Park, where people can experience the
night sky unaffected by light pollution.
The Biosphere /Dark Sky Park learning journey aims to foster
international exchange to encourage the use of Biosphere Reserves as places
which support the creation of economic opportunities as well as nature
conservation.
Poloniny National Park |
We are seeking artists, makers and designers who wish to
take part in a learning journey to Slovakia, including the East Carpathian
Biosphere Reserve within Poloniny National Park. The learning journey aims to inspire those participating, to
develop and promote markets for sustainably produced locally distinct products
which reflect our rich cultural and natural heritage.
There are up to 8 places on the learning journey, which will
take place from the 19th -25th April. It is open to applicants based in South
West Scotland (Dumfries and Galloway, South Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and North
Ayrshire).
