We are currently seeking applications for cultural research support
workers for the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Partnership (DGAP) Fresh Start
project.
These short-term, part-time
contracts offer the opportunity to play a crucial role in an exciting project
to create a cultural resource for Dumfries and Galloway. This resource will be
used to help inform proposals for a new approach to the strategic management of
arts and cultural activity across the region.
Four posts are available and it is
intended that one person be appointed from and with responsibility for each of
the D+G areas (Annandale and Eskdale, Nithsdale, Stewartry and Wigtownshire).
Successful applicants will be responsible for gathering and recording
information about the arts, artists and craft makers which are of relevance to
the region’s arts, culture and heritage. This will be done through desktop
research and work in the field. The data will be gathered from existing
sources.
The work will involve liaising
with line management, members of the arts and cultural community and
representatives of the arts hubs which operate across the region. Some travel
may be required.
Necessary experience
Applicants must be able to work to a brief and use their own initiative. They require a high standard of written and spoken English and must be able to carry out detailed research which is clear and accurate. Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they can gather and check information in several formats and have the ability to use computers to work across media – creating and checking spread sheets.
They must be able to demonstrate
an ability to communicate effectively by phone and in person, liaising with a
variety of other organisations, carrying out interviews where necessary.
An understanding and knowledge of the arts sector in Dumfries and Galloway is essential.
A clean driving licence and own
transport are also required.
Contract
Successful applicants will be
contracted on a self-employed basis and will be paid at a rate of £12.50 per
hour up to a maximum £1000 (inc VAT) - there is an allowance for expenses over
and above this fee. The four support workers will be managed directly by
Matthew Shelley and it is planned that the work required for this contract will
be completed within a month of awarding the contracts.
Application Procedure
Applicants are required to submit
a letter of application and a CV – these to be sent by email to DGAP Fresh
