Mikhail Nemtsov @ Catstrand


Mikhail Nemtsov will be performing at the Catstrand this Friday, 8th March at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10/8 - here's what Catstrand had to say about him...



'St-Petersburg born cellist Mikhail Nemtsov is fast becoming one of the most highly regarded young cellists of his generation. Recent accolades include winning the Pierre Fournier International Cello Competition, Salieri-Zinetti Chamber Music Contest, Bromsgrove Young Artist Platform, RNCM Gold Medal, and winner of Silver Medal in VTB Rostropovich Memorial International Contest. Significant performances include Beethoven Triple concerto with Vassily Petrenko, Haydn Cello Concerto with European Union Chamber Orchestra and a solo evening and with Nash Ensemble in Wigmore Hall.

In this the year of the centenary of Benjamin Britten, one of Britain’s leading 20th Century Composers, Mikhail will perform his first solo suite for cello. The programme will also include Bach suites no. 1 and 6 and the virtuosic sonata by Ligeti.'
