Here in Moffat we are exploring a revolutionary well-being centre concept that includes the arts at its heart. The idea is being worked on by two groups: Moffat KEEP WATCH and Moffat Book Events. A meeting was held at Moffat Town Hall on Thursday Feb 28, when the two group put forward their visions for Moffat Old Academy and agreed to meet together and collaborate.
Moffat Book Events had invited former D&G Arts organiser Alan Thomson, who is preparing the town's bid for a Creative Scotland 'Creative Place' award, to put the case for using the listed front of the site, including the forecourt, as a multi-functional destination arts and crafts attraction for Moffat's residents and visitors. Richard Demarco, who has led Scotland's post WWII drive for avant-garde internationalism in the arts, wound up the proceedings with a short and moving plea for the town to lift its eyes and remember its soul .
