They are the Heroes!

Postponed Opening Show to the Big Burns Supper - will be presented at DG ONE this April.

'We can be heroes' – the community celebration event, which was due to open the Big Burns Supper Festival in January, has been rescheduled to be presented in DG ONE on April 19th

Representatives from Dumfries & Galloway Council, and Big Burns Supper Festival, as well as partners Creative Scotland and The Holywood Trust have been working to make sure that the children who took part in the months of workshops leading up to the event – get the chance to show off their work.
Tickets for the performance will be in high demand - with a community cast of over 700 people who took part in one of the most ambitious theatre projects ever to be staged in Scotland. In order to make sure that as many people see the project as possible – the whole performance will be broadcast live on the internet through the Big Burns Supper website

Tickets will be available through the Big Burns Supper website at www.bigburnssupper.com  or by calling 01387 271820.   There will be a limited number of tickets available, and parents of children taking part will have an allocation which has been set through the Education service.

Karen-Ward Boyd, Director of Holywood Trust, said:
“The Holywood Trust is absolutely delighted that all the young people who have worked so enthusiastically in the months leading up to the Festival in January, will now get the opportunity to perform to family and friends. We applaud the determination and commitment of the Big Burns Supper for making this happen”

Kenneth Fowler, Director of Communications at Creative Scotland, said: “It is great news that We can be heroes will still be presented as part of this year’s Big Burns Supper. The community spirit celebrated in the show has been one of the driving forces which has meant it can be re-staged. Creative Scotland is delighted to support this production and hope that as many people as possible from Dumfries and Galloway and further afield will go to see and enjoy We can be heroes.”

Show takes place on Friday 19th April in DG ONE at 18.30pm and broadcast through the internet live at the same time.
