Re: Fred & Ginger. The Masonic, George Street, Dumfries. DG1 1EJ
Friday 24th January at 4pm and Sunday 26th January at 7pm - £6.50
Playing at the Big Burns Supper - The World’s biggest Burns Night celebration, in Dumfries.
The Meat Puppet Collective is delighted to bring Fred & Ginger to Dumfries for its Scottish Premiere. This hilarious, heart warming, adult comedy has played to packed houses across the UK since it premiered in London over 20 years ago, and is loved by both audiences and critics alike.
“Side splitting… eye opening… genuinely moving. Her brilliance never dims from beginning to end. Catch it while you have the chance.” Douglas McPherson for What’s On, London
“Refreshing… Poignant… Snappy” Time Out, London
It remains just as funny, current and poignant to this day, so join our heroine, Ginger, as she shares her stories: Her love for the strong armed, flat capped, Albert, her commitment to growing old disgracefully and her passion for handbrake turns.
“Short is may be but sweet it definitely is. And, although I would have liked longer in the company of this sexy, mischievous, pot smoking OAP, a one- woman play that flies by and leaves you
crying out for more is nothing to complain about”
Written and Directed by Dumfries artist Moxie DePaulitte, Fred & Ginger marks a departure from some of the company’s edgier, physical theatre and returns to a gentler, more traditional, form of storytelling. That said, it remains irreverent, thought provoking and full of surprises. It also heralds DePaulitte’s return to the stage after an almost 10 year sabbatical spent concentrating on the art of baking babies and raising a family.
Tickets to this Rehearsed Reading, starring Andi Schiller, cost £6.50 and are available on 01387 271 820, online at www.bigburnssupper.com or from the Big Burns Supper Box Office, Munches Street, Dumfries. Discounts available for Group Bookings.
