From Sara at The Yellow Door

Sheila Mullen's Tam O Shanter
As part of this month’s Burns celebrations in Dumfries, the Yellow Door will be holding an exhibition of Words and Pictures in the Queen Street Gallery.

On display, there will be paintings and other art works inspired by or relating to writing and poetry, and vice-versa. This exhibition will include work by Hugh Bryden, Graham Fulton, Sheila Mullen, Katy Ewing, John Threlfall, Colin Blanchard, Kim Ayres and Anne Lindsay.

Literary events and workshops and demonstrations will also take place, including readings from Katy Ewing's recently published anthology of poems: 'Some Strong Harsh Magic'. Cairn Chorus will be singing Burns Songs in the gallery after the Burns Night parade (January 25), and the jazz group Getz will be performing on Sunday,  February 1.

Words and Pictures will run from January 21 to 31st.

The exhibition runs simultaneously with the town’s Big Burns Supper Festival.
