Big Night on Neptune

On September 23rd it will be 165 years since Neptune was first observed by Johann Gottfried Galle. This will be the first time since then that astronomers on Earth will be able to see the same view that Galle saw, because Neptune takes 165 years to orbit the sun ie a 'year' on Neptune is 165 Earth years.

Neptune viewed behind one of its 30 moons (Triton)
There is an interesting blogpost about the Neptunian Year here which among other things speculates about seasons that are more than 40 years long and the fact that Neptune will only orbit the Sun a mere 60 times in the next 10,000 years.
