Youth Arts Project Coordinator (Voluntary)

The Unfinished Picture Project - www.unfinishedpictureproject.org - is looking for an experienced community activist to coordinate our Spring Project. The Creating Dialogue Project is a 4 month art initiative that will partner (through online tools) young Scots and young Palestinians in a creative dialogue facilitated by art practitioners, followed by the creation of a collaborative, public artwork. The youth will undertake weekly workshops in which they engage in critical research, creating art work and online dialogue: they will come from communities in Dumfries, Scotland and Nablus, the West Bank.

The Unfinished Picture Project is an international network of artists, community educators and activists working to nurture creative cross-cultural dialogues between and within communities. We deliver projects through which communities can collaboratively explore issues and share creatively. We are currently based in Scotland, the USA and Palestine. We would like a volunteer to coordinate our Dumfries branch of this project ensuring that communication between partner organizations and practitioners in both countries is effectively maintained and that the needs and interests of the young people we work with are appropriately met.

The role is voluntary but a reasonable stipend of £650 will be provided for the duration of the role and all travel costs covered. Expected weekly input is between 7 and 10 hours per week (though this is likely to vary through-out the project).
